Running through a torrential downpour twenty-three runners completed the 3rd annual Run the Rock 5k on Saturday, May 13th. Jonathan Peace repeated as the overall male champion. Due to the harsh conditions Peace was off the course record mark of 18:58 he had set in 2012. However, considering the harsh conditions, Peace still finished in a respectable 19 minutes and 57 seconds. Doug Mackey was the top Sand Rock resident. He posted a time of 22:35. Ashley Beck garnered the overall female crown. Beck’s was timed at 25.59. Proceeds from the race are used to support the Sand Rock Baptist Youth Group summer mission trip.
