The Leesburg Town Council has approved the purchase of security cameras for the park.
Mayor Ed Mackey says vandals recently caused around 600-dollars in damage at the park.
The cameras cost close to 11-hundred dollars and have infrared capability which make then effective even at night.
Since the installation of similar cameras at Leesburg Landing, incident of vandalism have ceased, according to Mayor Mackey who also gave an update on the softball complex during Monday’s meeting.
He says money is in hand and they are ready to get started once the rain ends and the park dries out.
In other action during their Monday meeting, the council approved a 250-dollar contract with Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society to perform cancer screenings and literature for Leesburg Day coming up on September the 14th.
The council also approved just over 3-thousand dollars for the purchase of a Clarke Vantage Micro Scrubber for the FEMA Building.
