In Class 1A, Cedar Bluff saw their streak of six consecutive state boys and girls championships come to and end. The Lady Tigers finished in the runner-up position behind Westminster-Oak Mountain. The Cedar Bluff boys were fifth overall.
Audrey Hargitt of Cedar Bluff earned a triple jump gold medal.
Hargitt’s hop, skip and jump of 32 feet and 11 1/4 inch was tops in Class 1A.
Cedar Bluff girls earned a gold in the Class 1A 4×400 relay.
The Lady Tigers recorded the state’s best time of 4:23.75.
The results were as follows:
1A girls: Westminster-Oak Mountain 120.33, Cedar Bluff 100, Falkville 65, R.A. Hubbard 42, Meed 36.5
1A boys: Falkville 106, Linden 65, Westminster-Oak Mountain 58.5, St. Bernard 52, Cedar Bluff 51.5.
