Anniston Police Investigating Fight

A fight in Anniston sent five women to the hospital last week.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks told the Anniston Star a large group of people were present when the fight started in a parking lot on the 1400 block of Cooper Avenue.

A 20-year old woman and a 17-year-old girl were reportedly involved in the fight Thursday around 9 p.m.

The 20-year old told police during the fight she was severely cut multiple times on her torso with a sharp object.

The 17-year-old girl also suffered a severe cut on her arm and lower body.

The girl’s father told police that the altercation began as a fist fight.

During the fight, Sparks said, three women attempted to intervene and suffered multiple injuries.

One 18-year-old was cut on her thighs, arms and hands.

Another 18-year-old suffered severe cuts on her head and upper body.

The third woman, a 44-year-old, was cut on her wrist.

Sparks said all five women were taken to Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries from which they are expected to recover.

The investigation is continuing and multiple charges are expected to be filed.
