Someone is apparently stealing metal grates belonging to the City of Centre and it is costing you tax money.
Mayor Tony Wilkie says the missing grates present a safety concern.
He proposed a possible solution during a recent Centre City Council meeting, which was to weld replacement grates into place to prevent future thefts.
The council then approved the purchase of the welder generator.
It is believed the alleged thieves are taking the grates and then selling them as scrap metal.
