One Killed During High Speed Pursuit; Two Arrested

A 21 year old Birmingham man was killed when he crashed his motorcycle Thursday morning as he was trying to elude a Calhoun County Deputy.

According to Etowah County Coroner Michael Head, Tevin Garcia Williams was fatally injured, when his motorcycle struck a utility pole near an intersection at Industrial Parkway and Meighen Boulevard in Gadsden.

The chase began, when Williams and two other motorcyclists, decided to flee from a deputy who was attempting to pull them over on Highway 431 near Wellington.

The motorcycle Williams was driving had been stolen out of Birmingham. The other two drivers, Andre James Byrd and Radarius Jamall Burnett both age 20 – were discovered behind a Gadsden shopping center and were in the Calhoun County Jail on Thursday afternoon.

Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson said Byrd and Burnett each had outstanding warrants for their arrest in Jefferson County.

According to the Anniston Star, both men were also charged with attempting to elude police.
