Former Police Officer Facing More Charges

FCSO - Ambar x2Former Rome Police Officer Ambar Velazquez – already in jail on drug charges – now faces two additional charges from warrants filed Tuesday (April 9th).

The 32 year old is facing new charges of possession of Hydrocodone with the intent to distribute, and possession of Xanax with the intent to distribute – both felonies.

Velazquez has been in custody since her arrest on March 4th, after police found her with drugs in a motel on the Martha Berry Highway in Rome; officers also recovered a ledger she’d apparently been keeping – listing drug sales.

She is also facing charges in Polk County after she was found with 90 Xanax pills in her shoe.

Velazquez was fired from the Rome Police Department in 2011 – for having a relationship with a known felon.

She remains in jail without bond.
