Centre Firefighters were called to the former K-Mart location off of the Chestnut Bypass in Centre on Tuesday afternoon after a 9-1-1 call reporting an 18wheeler hauling bread crumbs had caught fire.
Centre Fire Chief Will Gardner said that it is uncertain what caused the fire and stated that the driver told them the Piedmont Fire Department had just put a significant amount of water on the load before he traveled to Centre. The fire was quickly extinguished and thankfully no one was hurt.
Centre Police also responded.
