There was a single-vehicle accident involving an 18 wheeler late Monday night in Cherokee County.
That mishap took place on County Road 15 near the Rhinehart community at 11:55 when the vehicle – which was reportedly en route to J.P. Smith Lumber Company in Menlo, Georgia – overturned, losing its load of sawdust along the roadway.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report, the driver of that 2006 International, William Robinson of Alex City, Alabama was listed as receiving injuries in the rollover. The report noted that he was wearing his seat belt.
The Broomtown Fire Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Cherokee County EMA Office responded to the scene. EMA officials responded to clean up a small fuel and oil spill.
The cause of that accident remains under investigation.
