Sand Rock & Spring Garden Schools Presented With Federal Energy Star Certifications

The Cherokee County Board of Education held their regular meeting on Tuesday with a busy agenda. The board received for review the March 2018 Bank Reconciliation, Cash Balance and Financial Report, the  Accounts Payable for April 2018 and the 2018-2019 Salary Schedule for review.

Both Sand Rock and Spring Garden Schools were presented with Federal Energy Star Certifications, Rusty Jacoway made the presentation and gave high praise to all the administrators, faculty and staff members at each school across the county for their dedication in making sure that each campus is doing their part to help save as much on energy as possible. 

Jacoway stated that the necessary paperwork has been submitted for every school in the county receive their Energy Star Certification. Energy Star Certifications are not an easy thing to receive, every Energy Star is a Federal Program, Energy Star Buildings are rated to preform in the top twenty five percent of buildings nationwide.

In other business, the board approved 2017-18 Energy Savings Budget Amendment for Cedar Bluff School, approved the 2018-19 Energy Savings Budget for Cedar Bluff School, Sand Rock School and Spring Garden School.

A Door Replacement and Lock Project at Cherokee County Career and Technology Center a Public Works Project in addition to the Family and Consumer Sciences Kitchen Cabinet Project at Cherokee County High School and at Gaylesville School .

Approval was also granted for Spring Garden School to Purchase or Lease a John Deere Tractor from Ag-Pro

The following bids were approved:
A. Freezer/Cooler Combo with Shelving – ITB# CNP 18-12 – Hotel Restaurant Supply –Lowest Responsible and Responsive Bid
B. Fresh Produce Services – ITB# CNP 19-03 – Forestwood Farms – Lowest Responsible and Responsive Bid (with the option to extend for four additional years if both parties are satisfied)
C. Beverages – ITB# CNP 19-05 – Trident Beverage – Sole Bidder (with the option to extend for four additional years if both parties are satisfied)
D. Milk Services – ITB# CNP 19-02 – Mayfield – Lowest Responsible and Responsive Bid (with the option to extend for four additional years if both parties are satisfied)

Out of State Travel with Students included:
A. Christina DeBoard and the Centre Middle School Cheerleaders to attend UCA Cheer Camp in LaGrange, GA on June 15-17, 2018 – at no expense to the board
B. Andrea Taylor, Julie Graves and the Cherokee County High School Varsity Cheerleaders to attend UCA Cheer Camp in Panama City Beach, FL on July 29-August 2, 2018 – funded by Student/Parents
C. Sandi Wheeling and the Gaylesville Varsity Cheerleaders to attend Cheer Camp in Panama City Beach, FL on July 29-August 2, 2018 – at no expense to the board
