"The Voice": Adam and Miley Each Gain Two New Artists

Josh Halverson auditions on “The Voice”; Tyler Golden/NBC(LOS ANGELES) — The Voice coaches continued to add artists to their teams Monday night, as week two of the blind auditions began.

Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and new coaches Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys listened to six hopefuls during the one-hour episode. All of the coaches except Blake landed at least one artist, with Adam and Miley gaining two.

Here’s what happened:

Bindi Liebowitz won over both Adam and Blake with her rendition of the Jazmine Sullivan song “Bust Your Windows.” Adam pleaded with her, “I love you. I need you.” Blake played the “I’ve won more seasons than Adam has” card. Bindi chose Adam as her coach.

Zack Hicks was unable to convince any of the coaches to turn around with his version of “At This Moment,” originally by Billy Vera & The Beaters.

Elia Esparza took a risk by singing in Spanish. It paid off, drawing interest from Adam, Blake and Miley with her cover of Selena’s “Como la Flor.” Adam thought that there was room for improvement, but that it was a refreshing performance. Miley touted the fact that, unlike Adam and Blake, she had no trouble pronouncing Elia’s name. Elia went with Adam, citing the fact that he was the first to turn around.

Lane Mack, whose uncle is a Grammy-nominated Cajun and zydeco musician, took on “Every Day I Have the Blues,” made famous by B.B. King, among others. Miley sensed that they had similar taste in music, and she scooped him up for her team.

Karlee Metzger was up next with her take on the Regina Spektor tune “Samson.” Miley and Blake both pushed their buttons. Miley was eager to break Karlee out of her shyness. Miley will have that opportunity going forward.

Texan Josh Halverson closed out the show with a performance of Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young.” In the final moments, Blake, Miley and Alicia all turned around. Miley said she felt wrapped up in what Josh was singing. Alicia said she pressed her button because she knows what good music feels like. Adam endorsed Blake as the right coach for Josh. “Look at how powerful you are, you built a bridge between us,” Blake joked to Josh about his friendly rival Adam. Josh landed on Team Alicia.

The blind auditions continue Tuesday night on NBC with a two-hour episode. It begins at 8 p.m. ET.
